The Paro tsechu is held every spring and is one of the most colorful events in the district.
The tsechu is considered a major attraction and people travel from neighboring districts to participate. On the last day, the monks display a gigantic thongdrel (embroidered painting) of Guru Rinpoche inside the dzong. Thongdrels are impressive examples of Buddhist art and never fail to amaze viewers. They are considered very sacred with the mere sight of which cleanses one’s sins.
